What to Do on Rue Montorgueil Market Street, Paris

Market streets are somewhat common in Paris and serve as an outdoor grocery shop – with products coming from specialized merchants who care about the food they are selling. You can often find locally sourced, high quality produce – from fruits, to bread, to cheese, to meat – all along the same street! Of course, you will be paying a premium for these products, but if you have the money to spend, then it’s absolutely worth doing your Paris grocery shopping on a market street!

Rue Montorgueil is one the first market streets I visited in Paris and the experience has always stayed with me! Here are a few ideas for what to do on Rue Montorgueil.

  • Eat Duck Confit at Le Compas
  • Au Rocher de Cancale has a beautiful Versailles-style façade in a creamy blue and gold palette!

  • Pick up a fresh bouquet at Anaïs
  • Get your cheese from La Fermette
  • Stohrer: Patisserie Stohrer is the oldest patisserie in Paris, having been opened by baker Nicolas Stohrer in 1730! Stohrer became known for selling his famous Baba au Rhum which you can still enjoy today! This is one of my favorite bakeries in the city – and it’s where I discovered my favorite pastry in Paris: the rosier!
