France Paris Activities Nature Parc de Belleville

Parc de Belleville

The Parc de Belleville may be often overshadowed by its much grander neighbor, the Buttes Chaumont, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth a visit. Especially if you love neighborhood parks that locals frequent, the Parc de Belleville is as charming as they come.

If there’s one reason to visit this park, it’s the views!

Going up one of the staircases, I happened to catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower in this lovely park. The upper level offers stunning panoramic views of the city, too where you can spot many major French monuments.

You see, up until the 18th century, Belleville was mostly countryside land, with windmills and farms and a few cafés. It was a village outside of Paris where everyday people lived, who escaped the rising prices of Paris. This park wasn’t actually built until 1988! Today it welcomes children to is playscape and wine harvesters to its 140 vines where harvesting takes place each year.
