{simple pleasures} Breakfast on My Parisian Balcony

Breakfast is typically a minimal affair in France. Often, a baguette with butter or jam will do. However, the morning after the Paris attacks I felt it was necessary to eat the most French breakfast possible to show pride and support for a country I love. You see, French people love to celebrate the simple pleasures of every day life, no matter how banal they may seem, much more than the average person.

In honor of France, I brought together a ton of my favorite French breakfast foods and had a wonderful meal on my little balcony… It turned out to be quite the eclectic mix of goods! There was brie cheese, orange juice, yogurt with raspberries, a baguette, Bonne Maman jam, macarons, grapes, croissants, and some delicacies (a rosier and a tarte citron) from Stohrer, the oldest pâtisserie in Paris which happened to be down the block from my apartment. It may not have been the prettiest balcony and I certainly didn’t have the best view, but on that day… I was simply thankful.
